Teaching Trips

These trips will provide students with a great opportunity for  instruction with Spearfishing Magazine's Senior Editor Kurt Bickel (see "About Us") and a small core of hand selected instructors. Each trip will provide the following:

• No more than 2:1 Student/Instructor ratio.
• In water real time feedback
• Use of a selection of bluewater and reef guns
• Use of a float
• Use of a floatline
• Daily videotaping and critique
• Written course material designed specifically for the area and species targeted
• Pre-scouting to insure maximum opportunity
• Trip video

Kurt Bickel has mentored and taught a wide variety of students from different backgrounds, including 2 time Women's National Spearfishing Champion Brandi Easter (pictured here).  With nearly 20 years of hunting experience in a wide variety of locations throughout the world, he brings the benefit of his own education by some of spearfishing's legends. A gun builder and former representative for a major dive manufacturer, he is well versed in the nuances of dive equipment, and can help you tailor gear for your diving style.

Teaching will be tailored to your goals and abilities. While some diving experience is helpful, you don't have to be Pippin to hunt effectively, but you do need to learn the subtleties of fish behavior and stalking techniques.
